WORDS Foundation Pakistan, with the financial support of the National Humanitarian Network (NHN) Pakistan, successfully conducted a comprehensive Community Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (CCRVA) exercise at Village Essa Khan Khiazai, Dera Allah Yar, District Jaffarabad.

During the activity, community members actively participated in a series of participatory exercises, including:

Hazard and Resource Mapping
Historical Timeline
Seasonal Calendar
Vulnerability Matrix
Household Decision-Making Exercise
Institutional Venn Diagram
Mitigation and Adaptation Pathways
Development of a Community Mitigation and Adaptation Plan

Through these exercises, community members identified major natural and climate-related hazards, vulnerable groups, livelihood resources, seasonal challenges, institutional support mechanisms, and locally appropriate measures for disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation.

The meaningful participation of women, men, elderly persons, persons with disabilities, farmers, and other community representatives ensured that local knowledge, experiences, vulnerabilities, and capacities were incorporated into the assessment.

The findings of the exercise will support community-led planning and help develop practical mitigation and adaptation measures to reduce disaster risks and strengthen the resilience of Village Essa Khan Khiazai.
